Grooming Tips |

Some owners desire whiskers
to be clipped, but be sure
they DO want them off first!
Use scissors - never
clippers, as clipper marks
on the face of a Borzoi is a
definite no-no and the
whiskers will remain
stubbly. It's helpful to put
a finger inside the lip
right under the whisker
before you cut, and doing
each one individually is
best if you have time. The
Borzoi should look as
natural as possible, with
any trimming being very
discreet and well-blended.
Use thinning shears as
opposed to straight whenever
possible. Top-cutting the
heavier hairs on a Borzois
coat may cause it to become
quite harsh in texture! To
thin the coat, use thinning
shears underneath, against
the skin, carefully(!), and
do in small amounts at a
time. Any conditioners used
on Borzoi after shampooing
should be carefully chosen.
Choose your conditioner
carefully. Some are fine to
help prevent tangles but
they may also weigh down the
coat too much. It is usually
best to apply the
conditioner already diluted
in water. Submitted by Deb

Grooming Tips for
Professionals |
|
The grooming goal of a
Borzoi is a natural look and
maintain the natural outline
of the breed. Don't over
groom this breed. A high
velocity dryer can blow away
lots of the bath water after
a towel dry. Use scissors to
remove hair between the
pads. |
