Standard Definition

The Birman is thought to have originated as a temple cat in Asia.  It has heavy bone and longer in the body and head than the Persian.  Developed in France and during World War II dwindled to just a few.  It was some years before the breed was rejuvenated and in the 1960s they were imported from France to England and then to America.  (Donate a picture.)
